One of the main demographic challenges facing the country is its aging population, to which the municipality of Antilla does not escape, and the process accentuated in recent years has created the need for multisectoral attention in favor of the elderly. The territory has been working on this dynamic since 2011, with the creation of municipal groups, and at the beginning of 2024 a stop was made to evaluate what had been achieved in the previous stage of work.
In 2023, the main topics discussed were related to the mother and child program, and the actions to be taken to reduce adolescent pregnancy, mainly by Health and Education.
The effectiveness in the attention to the infertile couple consultations, the completion of the grandfather's house, the progress of the housing program for mothers with 3 or more children, the attention to vulnerable communities and the employment program, were the most discussed topics.
The increase of capacities in children's circles is one of the municipality's strategic actions, and recently the first children's house was inaugurated, located in the new Camilo Cienfuegos community.
