Twelve years of the Regalando Amor project... and it is easy to say, but even counting it seems so, it would be like homework for first grade students: 1,2,3,4...12. If we add Gardel's saying that "twenty years is nothing", twelve will surely seem much less. However, because of the dose of joy and solidarity of this special dozen, it itself is elevated to the N power and we'll see what the famous Argentine composer will say. Its genesis was in April 2012, when a group of pediatric patients attended a collective birthday, in which no matter the date of birth, the miracle of life was celebrated. The Adelaida del Mármol cultural center became a palace where princes and princesses enjoyed themselves. Gifts, jams, balloons, kisses and very tight squeezes (the kind that do not break bones, but they do break sadness) abounded.
Every year there was a reunion, and when Covid tried to prevent it, the joy knocked on the door of every home, because the organizers did not want their little ones to stop celebrating. Even today they remain united online, thanks to the magic of the Internet!
Here I make a stop to thank its promoter Yuniercy Arencibia William, who together with ALL the agencies, organizations, economic actors and people of good will of the municipality, have become godparents. Each child has so many that you can't count them on the fingers of your hands... not even adding those of your toes. So far, it has rained a lot... and what is still to come, I'm sure it will!
I have followed the celebrations one by one and looking at the photos and videos I feel a mixture of nostalgia and pride for my fellow countrymen, which I can hardly express in these lines. I am a witness of the solidarity and humanism with which everyone contributes, no matter if it is bills or hugs. Managers forget their hierarchies and play invisible drums, grandmothers become dancers and parents take the stage to sing and jump and laugh ... There are those who also cry, which are not few, because the emotion is sometimes wet and brackish. But the best of all is the smile of each child, and to draw it we have more than 20,000 brushes, yes, because after July 1, 2022 Antilla has grown and there are many more of us who get muddy with watercolors. Here I share with you the most recent activity, and with it, the eternal gratitude to those who make this titanic work of infinite love possible.
