From April 8 to 25, Cuba celebrates the International Day of Girls and ICTs, under the slogan "Leadership", with the purpose of empowering and encouraging girls, young women and women to study in the field of these technologies, so that there is greater female participation in the sector. The young computer and electronics club of the municipality of Antilla joins this celebration, but not in an isolated way, but rather it goes beyond institutional limits, promoting its development to all sectors of the territory.

In dialogue with Olivia Urgellés Hastie, its director, referred that there are several activities allegorical to the ephemeris, designed to overcome gender stereotypes that may discourage girls to enroll in these courses or careers. "Not only within the day, but every day, our young club works to eliminate the idea that boys are more technologically skilled, while girls are considered less skilled in handling technologies. Today, Antilla has a better educated society in this sense, where empowered women use technology in most of their daily lives. For this, of course, it must begin its study from an early age, and the young club together with the school play decisive roles in this sense".

International Girls in ICT Day was first celebrated on April 21, 2011. Since long before that date, bridging the gender digital divide has been a priority for the green Caribbean alligator, and Antilla, from its eye, has always joined in that collective goal.
