The television rooms are facilities created with the objective of contributing to the information of the population residing in non-electrified settlements, to raise their general and integral culture and it is also a means for healthy recreation in the community. They were founded on March 29, 2001.
We visited the one located in Calabaza 6, in the municipality of Antilla, and spoke with Daimara López Gutiérrez, its general coordinator.
She tells me that she feels a great love for her work, aware of the importance of her role in the community. The place looks clean and beautifully decorated, aspects that are always praised by regular visitors.
The young woman says that the facility also guarantees the means it has for use in the event of natural disasters or in defense of the homeland, and has become one of the main points of information for the locals, a vital issue in the current scenarios. "Dissemination is done in different ways: from a poster made of cardboard to the comprehensive social platforms".
Yitson Pérez Santiesteban, president of the people's council of that demarcation, offers details that Daimara has omitted out of modesty. "She is an advanced worker and despite her youth she is very responsible. Her immediate response to any call that is made is worthy of note. She is also very active in social networks and was recently recognized for meritorious work in this regard."
