Although the municipality of Antilla implements the policy for the attention to the population dynamics, there are still some difficulties whose treatment is prioritized in this 2024 that has just begun. In dialogue with Carlos Rivero Xique, mayor, he said that there are still insufficient measures for the care of the elderly, in order to promote greater autonomy, participation and social integration. On the other hand, it is necessary to achieve the incorporation to employment of people in conditions to work and to establish control mechanisms that allow to know, to evaluate and to project measures in agreement with the internal and external movements of the territory. The municipality also advocates a greater number of cultural programs to entertain the population, with emphasis on the elderly.
"In this sense -the mayor clarifies- for the adequate implementation of this policy we work from the families themselves, districts and popular councils, since this is a battle that is won on the basis of integration. Today, the municipality has a Chair for the Elderly organized and attended by the University Branch and the General Directorate of Health, 7 prevention groups, in addition to the municipal group, the House of Orientation for Women and the Family and 33 medical offices, among others. Currently, there is no nursing home or mental health center, but we are planning to incorporate them in future investment plans".
